Picture 104 - Being Tourists

Today we down to visit Fort Fisher (a civil war for initially) and the Aquarium. I really enjoyed getting to explore part of the state.

Picture 103 - washing woes

I woke up Saturday morning ready to face the day smiling. The house was clean, dishes were done, all I had left was one last load of sheets. As I started the washer I walked away thinking all was good. Turns out, not so. The safety switch wouldn't trip, drain the water and spin the clothes. All that to say I had a near panic attack wondering what I was going to do. Dad got here and saved the day. I now have a washing machine without a safety switch, but it works.

We spent Resurrection Sunday with my Aunt, Uncle, Cousin and her family today. We took the opportunity to take some family pictures. I just love Wesley's smile in this one.

Picture 101 - yellow coated everything

It's that time of year again. Time for allergies and pollen. It's insane how much everything gets coated in a yellow dust. I leave my car parked outside and every morning I come out and it's covered in dust. Thankfully, I haven't developed an allergy to this, so at least I'm not sneezing my head off, but it sure makes for quite a mess.

Picture 100 - Hot! Hot! Hot!

In preparation for my parents coming down, I spent my Friday night cleaning. I was getting very warm and sticky and figured it was just from the work I was doing until I looked at the temperature gauge for the apartment. It was 81 degrees in the apartment. No wonder why I was getting warm. But, I am refusing to use air conditioning until it is absolutely necessary. For now, fans do the job quite nicely.

Picture 99 - Yay for math!

I don't often post about school, but I was so excited about what the kids were doing today. It was the day before spring break began and I knew I needed something to keep them engaged. So, and Easter Egg math hunt was decided on. What really just makes me so proud though is that these two kids are really working out their problems and using their strategies. The problems I gave them were not easy by any measure, but because they were motivated by candy (I'm not above bribery once in a while), they spent 90 minutes working hard and solving the problems. Now if I can just get them to transfer this to their benchmark tests coming up next week!

Picture 98 - It's my party and I'll ignore you if I want to

While not a party for me, I can imagine that is what was going through Wesley's head. He had opened two presents and decided he was done. There were close to 25 people there and he just didn't want to be around anyone anymore. So, he grabbed his book from the shelf, went behind the couch (where no one was), plopped down and opened his book. He was a little full of it, but I could relate to the feeling. He eventually came back out and finished opening presents and the night ended well.
