My landlord is an interesting character, to say the least. One of his characteristics is cheapness. So, when he stopped by to ask if I wanted to have the area in front of my door tiled, I about fell over shocked. Usually he doesn't make improvements until someone moves out. In reality though, Linus is really the only one who is getting much use out of the tile. He absolutely loves the cool feeling of it.
