So, why a car battery? What's so special that is would warrant a mention in my year long "journal"? It's more the frustration that came with it. There was quite the fiasco trying to get a new battery put in, a terrible fear that my starter had mysteriously gone bad as well, and then a whole lotta butt chewing when S showed up and saved the day (or at least finally got something going). As of now, everything is running fine, but I can tell you what, never again will I darken the doors of Auto Zone if I can help it.
